ESI Center Bulgaria present in Croatia, April 2007

ESI Centers’ Managing Director George Sharkov was invited to deliver a two-hour workshop on Software Process Improvement – a Roadmap to Maturity in Rijeka, Croatia. More than 20 people took the challenge and attended the workshop the early Friday afternoon in the City hall building. They were presenting 5 IT intensive companies, two universities, two Governmental agencies and the USAID program.

The workshop is designed to introduce CMMI and IT Mark - universally acknowledged methodologies for enhancing the quality of software processes and products. The CMMI requires great investments from the companies often impossible for the small firms. But ESI Center Bulgaria presented the introductory step - IT Mark – a quality seal of ESI for micro and small enterprises. It was decided to start joined organization of a pilot project on IT Mark certification. The workshop ran across with the two days (20-21 April) conference “CLUSTERS-connecting possibilities in South – East Europe” that took part in Opatjia, Croatia. The international event was organized by the Ministry of Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship, under the auspices of Croatian Government. 

The invitation extended to ESI Center’s Managing Director to take part as a speaker in the main program is an acknowledgment for the role our Excellence Center plays in the Region. Dr. George Sharkov presented the model for international cooperation based on quality of processes in the session, entitled “IT Cluster”.
