Where: Sofia University Aula
Lecturer: Dr. Eduardo Miranda, Carnegie Mellon University, USA

Specifically tailored for you – business representatives interested in Project Management.

In the open lecture a top expert in Project Management will present a simple prioritization procedure that can be applied to the ranking of requirements at the release as well as the project level.

MoSCoW rule = ‘must’ +’should’+ ‘could’ + ’would’.

Applied to release planning this will help to decide when and with what features a working version of a software product will be made available to its customers. The procedure does not only capture customer preferences, but by constraining the number of features in the “must have” set as a function of the uncertainty of the underlying estimates, is able to offer project sponsors a high degree of reassurance in regards to the delivered of an agreed level of software functionality by the end of the time box.

Dr. Miranda, is an Associate Professor at the Master of Software Engineering Program at Carnegie Mellon University where he teaches courses on estimation, project management and quality issues. Before joining CMU in 2008, he worked in Canada for twenty years for companies such as Ericsson Research and Lockheed Martin. Dr. Miranda is the author of the book “Running the Hi-Tech Project Office” published by Artech in 2003. Beside his book on project management offices, Dr. Miranda has authored numerous articles on requirements analysis, the use of reliability growth models in project management, estimation techniques, and the calculation of contingency funds for projects.
